Competences
IMS Messsysteme GmbH, based in Heiligenhaus, and SECOPTA analytics GmbH, based in Teltow, are now combining their expertise. IMS has acquired a stake in SECOPTA analytics GmbH; the transaction took effect on 26 June 2026. Going forward, the new company will operate under the name IMS Secopta GmbH.
IMS Messsysteme GmbH is a globally leading provider of high-precision measuring and inspection systems for the steel, aluminium and non-ferrous metal industries. With this investment, the company is specifically expanding its portfolio in the field of automated material analysis.
SECOPTA analytics GmbH develops and markets analytical solutions based on LIBS technology (laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy). These are used in particular in the metal industry, in the recycling and waste recovery sector, in mining and in the raw materials and glass industries.
Strategic expansion in scrap analysis
The ongoing expansion of electric steel production and the growing importance of scrap recycling are increasing demand for precise electromagnetic, optical and radiometric inspection systems, particularly for sorting scrap and construction waste.
“Precise, early-stage characterisation of scrap is a key prerequisite for stable production processes and the targeted production of alloys. With our investment in SECOPTA analytics GmbH, we are specifically strengthening our technological expertise in this area, expanding our range of capabilities, and opening up new product and market opportunities – both within and beyond the metal industry,” explains Richard Rak, Managing Director of IMS Messsysteme GmbH.
“Fast response times and the highest level of service quality are key success factors for the industrial deployment of modern sensor technology. IMS Messsysteme GmbH’s decades of expertise in the development, production and worldwide deployment of complex sensor systems – combined with its established global service network – gives us the opportunity to support our international customers even more efficiently, quickly and to the highest professional standard in future,” explains Dr. Christian Bohling, Managing Director of SECOPTA analytics GmbH.
