IMS Messsysteme GmbH is sending a clear signal about its growth trajectory and long-term location strategy in Germany: another test facility is currently being built at its headquarters in Heiligenhaus to expand production capacities.
Heiligenhaus, July 2025
Following an extensive approval process, the topping-out ceremony for the new building was celebrated on July 30, 2025—just four months after construction began.
With the new Test Field 4, the company is expanding its production area by an additional 1,000 square meters. In addition to modern office space, this will primarily provide space for the production and comprehensive functional testing of large-scale measuring systems, especially for use in the hot strip mill sector. As is customary at IMS, all systems are fully assembled, equipped with state-of-the-art measurement technology and software, and tested under realistic conditions before being delivered to customers worldwide.
“The expansion is a logical step toward ensuring our delivery capability and innovative strength. At the same time, we are reaffirming our clear commitment to Germany as a business location,” explains the management of IMS Messsysteme GmbH.
IMS already operates three test fields at its Heiligenhaus site. With the new building, the company is responding to increased demand and the growing need for high-precision inline measuring systems for industrial applications. Test field 4 is scheduled for completion at the end of 2025.
Since its founding in 1980 and its move to Heiligenhaus in 1986, the location has developed continuously. The company premises now cover 56,000 square meters. Of the 630 employees worldwide, 460 work in Heiligenhaus – and thus play a key role in shaping the company’s innovative strength and international growth.
