The new Tosyali Sariseki hot rolling mill in İskenderun in southern Turkey is currently in an advanced stage of construction.
Owned by the Tosyali Group, the Turkish company plans to commission the mill with its total area of 450,000 square metres, with 218,000 square metres of indoor space, officially in last quarter 2022.
Following the start-up phase, Tosyalı Demir Çelik San A.Ş. expects an annual production capacity of 4 million t/year, which corresponds to an increase in total hot rolled flat production within the Group of 300 % and will further expand and consolidate the Tosyali Group’s position on the market.
The plant will focus on rolling flat products such as unalloyed carbon steel for construction use, steel for cold & hot rolling, pipe steel, structural steel for vessel, boiler steel, low alloy steel for heat treatment, HSLA steel for construction and pipe application.
For an effective production result with maximum product quality, Tosyalı Demir Çelik San. A.Ş. has once again placed its trust in its long-standing partner IMS Messsysteme GmbH, based in Heiligenhaus in North Rhine-Westphalia, and awarded a major order for the complete outfitting of the rolling mill with measurement and control technology from the world market leader.
Thus, in future, an XR three-head thickness profile measuring system with integrated width and crop length measurement, a radar width measuring system, a TopPlan flatness measuring system, a Lascon multichannel measuring system including temperature and speed measurement and a surcon 2D surface inspection system will be installed at strategic points in the production process to ensure minimum wastage with the highest output and quality of Tosyalı products.
The main field of activity of Tosyalı is the production of steel pipes and profiles and it is the country leader in the Turkish steel pipe market. At the same time, it covers more than 25 facilities within the group, such as HRC, rebar, cold rolling mill, spiral pipe, natural gas pipe, in Turkey (İskenderun, Osmaniye, İstanbul), Algeria and Montenegro.
The new hot rolling mill is the second hot rolling mill of the group, and its primary target market is to produce raw materials (hot rolled coils) for other facilities of the same group. At the same time, it sells some of its production to the domestic market and exports it to many countries.
