The need for refined and polished process technologies is making itself more strongly
felt from year to year. Hence
the need for action is becoming more
pressing not only in rolling mill technology but also makes demands on
suppliers of
measuring and control equipment in using process technology.
In the area of round products, our tube wall thickness measurement systems provide you
today with the best in
high precision and reliability in service. Each system is adapted
to your particular measurement needs and uses
state-of-the-art technology.
Thus today, thanks to the multichannel tube wall thickness measurement installation, hot
seamlessly formed
tubes can be:
| - Shells, produced in Press
Mills, Piercing Mills and Cone Mills, etc. - Elongated tube, produced in elongating processes such as Push Benches, Conti, Plug Mills, MPM, and Assel Mills, etc. - Finished hot tube, produced in Reelers, Sizing Mills, Stretch Reducing Mills, etc. |
The distribution of eccentric and polygonal tube wall thickness can also
be monitored.
Poor setup and product deviations at the individual deformation processes are detected
right at the source and
eliminated resulting in optimal operation of the process.
For the continuous non-contact determination of the tube wall
thickness and to measure particular characteristics
of the tube, we apply Details-channel
and multi-channel thickness measuring systems. According to the application
these may be
supplemented with optical measuring systems. By this means diameter, ovality, length and
temperature can also be determined (variety of measurements).
The thickness measurement working together with the optical system makes it possible to
determine exactly the
position around the tube periphery as well as the thickness (the
circumferential thickness profile). Fast powerful
computer systems permit the
instantaneous real-time display of the measured values and thus give a rapid insight
into
the fabrication process.
In addition, procedures relative to quality assurance are carried out (statistical
evaluations, long-term analyses via
histograms and frequency distributions etc.). These
serve not only to confirm the quality of the product, but can
also be fed back into the
fabrication process so as to improve it.
Characteristics
Our systems have, among others, the following performance characteristics:
- Measurement
accuracy < ± 0.3 % |
- Isotope Cs 137 |
Measuring points in different explanations
The following overview shows you a few examples from a multitude of possible applications.| Details-channel
measuring system for determinig the thickness in the middle of the tube System design: Measuring system with one measuring head for continuously measuring the thickness of the upper and lower tube walls along the lenght. |

| Dual-channel
measuring system for determinig the thickness in the middle of the tube System design: Measuring system with two measuring heads for continuously measuring the thickness along the lenght of the tube. The thickness of the upper and lower tube walls is calculated using the average of the two channels. |

| Multi-channel
measuring system for determinig the thickness in the middle of the tube System design: Muli-channel measuring system for continuously measuring wall thickness and eccentricity along the lenght. |
